The winter issue  contains some fine and unusual poems. Take the time also to look for Cate’s photographs , the image of the Viking boat is so striking it looks like part of Salvador Dali.

I noticed a while ago that the Poetry Kit were calling for small presses and magazines to put forward three  poems for the PK award,  so rather late in the day I decided to enter. This necessitated reading through all the poems published in the magazine this year.

What struck me was the  quality of the work. My shortlist was huge and selecting the three poets a difficult choice since I am hopeless at cutting in both the magazine and my own work. Nevertheless three poems were finally selected , the poets informed and the entries duly send off. So good luck to them .

I’ve mentioned before that I do like the idea of an award  acknowledging  exceptional poems printed in small magazines. We don’t have a British equivalent of the  Pushcart and it’s time we did ( unless there’s one I don’t know about) so hopefully this award by the Poetry Kit which is ‘poetry central ‘ for publishers and poets will go some way to fulfilling this role.
